Cupcakes Y'all Enterprise, Alabama

OK so I've seen this place a million times. They relocated from Daleville to the Creekside mall on hwy 27 months ago. My father-in-law is visiting from Oregon and makes daily trips to the mini mart for the newspaper. Thursday morning he walked down to check the place out. When he came home he suggested we all go back and have lunch...and I'm glad he did! The staff was friendly and the food was great but the best part came when we decided to taste the cupcakes.

Please forgive the pictures they were taken after the car ride home in 90+ degree heat. I had this...

Key Lime and it was goooooooddddd!
Photobucket

My father in law had Cream Cheese Poundcake and my 4 year old really enjoyed a strawberry cupcake. We all enjoyed them so much we decided to bring some home to share with the rest of the family.

The scrumptious six pack.

They aren't limited to cupcakes either. According to their menu they have other tasty treats such as, cinnamon rolls, gooey bars, cookies, fudge, haystacks and more. They also do 2 layer cakes.

In looking around they also do childrens birthday parties where the kids get to decorate a bakers cap and three cupcakes while wearing cute little Cupcakes Y'all aprons. I know my 4 year old was intrigued with the place and it's a nice alternative to bowling....

You should check this place out. 2200 Ozark Hwy Suite A Enterprise, Alabama 36330 334-393-CAKE

Earl's Thrift Shop = Best Store Ever

The other day Melissa and I decided to drive around and go "junking". We like junk. We had previously passed a couple thrift stores that we hadn't been in and decided to go check them out. One of them was Earl's Thrift Shop. We nearly passed it too. It's not the biggest place.

After pulling into the lot Melissa didn't seem too impressed but lights were on so we decided to give it a try. And boy are we glad we did! Like the sign said it was packed full of antiques, furniture, and collectibles :)

This wasn't one of the girls favorite stores. No toys and a whole lot of "Hands to yourself! NO touchy!"

I fell in love with the furniture there. And it's not over expensive either! Like this bench with storage in the seat for $45.
06May09 103

And this was only $150 I think? I tried not to pay attention to prices on things I have no room in my house for.
06May09 104

There was SO MUCH little junk there. I wanted it all. I don't know where I would put it but my inner pack rat needed it.
06May09 101

And the color coordinated glass was all so pretty. Even had some jadite things for you PW readers ;)
06May09 099

Melissa found a hutch she needed so I got a picture of her next to it so her husband could see how big it is.
06May09 102

I have to go back. There was so much stuff everywhere I felt that I didn't get to see it all. Do you think he'd mind if I came to just hang out with his stuff?
06May09 098

I love this store. Fun, cheap, junk. GOOD junk. I'm going to have to restrain myself though before I end up on Oprah or TLC in an episode about obsessive hoarding. Thanks mom and dad for the 'collecting' gene...anyway...

If YOU want to explore Earl's on your own he is located here:

Just don't think about buying my bench.

Reading Time - Enterprise Public Library

We have been enjoying reading time at the Enterprise Public Library for about a year now. The girls really like Miss Louise. (she does a great job) Reading time is every Wednesday at 10:15am and 12:45pm.

Miss Louise with her captivated audience.
Photobucket

She really interacts with the kids. She asks questions and gets them involved with each book.
Photobucket

After a few books Miss Louise always has something fun for the kids to do. Sometimes a craft...today it was coloring sheets.
Photobucket

Country Best Farm Strawberry Adventure

What a great place this is! We've stopped in a time or two over the last couple of years but I had no idea how big this place really is. Thanks to a strawberry picking field trip with EG's school I came out of there with a new favorite place for produce.

Several acres of fresh fruits and veggies. They grow peaches, satsumas, squash, onions, potatoes, and of course strawberries just to name a few. They also do cakes, pies, chicken salad and homemade ice cream...chocolate, vanilla, peach, strawberry and blueberry...and it is GOOD!
Photobucket

I love this...the honor system. Ahhhh a wonderful place. We will be getting all our fresh produce here from now on...well all the stuff we don't grow in our garden that is.
Photobucket

The girls were ready to get started!
Photobucket

Filling those buckets. Well Layla was anyway. Get a look at the expression on EG's face. She makes me smile.
Photobucket

Layla really liked this particular strawberry....it was a funny shape.
Photobucket

EG did some picking for the bucket....and a little for herself. (pesticide free folks)
Photobucket

A few more for herself...
Photobucket

Mmmmmm, juicy.
Photobucket

With full buckets in tow we headed back to the main building to pay for our haul...and get some of that wonderful homemade ice cream. EG was tired.
Photobucket

This is Wes.

And his twin brother, Wyatt.

A really great group of kids. :)

For those of you who live locally you can (and should) visit this place. Country Best Farm is located at 1711 Moates Rd. Enterprise, AL 36330 (334) 393-7224. It's just a couple miles off the circle headed toward New Brockton on hwy 84.
